Exegetical Roadblocks: The Antichrist

Just the mention of the name is capable of striking fear in the heart of the average believer – the Antichrist. Who is he? When will he be manifest? What power will he truly have? The Antichrist has taken on many forms over the past 2,000 years – some religiously motivated, some politically – but what does Scripture actually say about him (or her, or they)?

Just as we’ve done the past few weeks, we aim to dismantle anything which stands in the way of a right understanding of the Revelation. As we consider the Antichrist, we must set aside a great deal of cultural, political and yes, religious propaganda in order to rightly understand what Scripture is telling us concerning this entity. We need to let go of our assumptions and the popular descriptions and embrace what God’s Word actually says, lest we be blinded by a false sense of security concerning the church, the world and the times that are before us.
