Exegetical Roadblocks: The Rapture
As we continue looking at the exegetical roadblocks to rightly understanding The Revelation, we will turn our attention to the popular teaching of the Rapture. The Rapture is not only engrained in the fabric of our modern, evangelical theology, it is also widely known by the culture at-large. This reality is underscored by the fact the few American evangelicals even debate the Rapture, preferring to focus on the timing of the event: pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation or post-tribulation. In this environment, asking about the truth of the Rapture ends up being an affront for many of our brothers and sisters in Christ, but that doesn’t let us off the hook. We must ask the question: is the Rapture taught in Scripture? And if it’s not, how does that impact our eschatology?
