Fully Divine, Fully Human

As Christ’s disciples, we know we can rely upon the truth of His Word to guide us in all things. There are, however, many areas where we are confronted with an Order or Law that is far beyond our human reasoning – the nature of Christ being one such example. Scripture presents our Lord and Messiah as both fully divine and fully human – not half-and-half – but fully both at the same time. We may choose to pridefully bow out our chests and proclaim to understand how it works, but let’s be honest with each other – we really have no idea. Since Scripture presents this to us, we must simply accept it by faith in the feebleness of our understanding. We will not fully comprehend the measure or mixture, but we can hopefully begin to understand God’s purpose in sending His perfect Son in human flesh for our benefit – and that will be our approach this Sunday.
