The New Covenant

How many times have we heard someone disclaim the actions of God in Genesis, Exodus, Judges, etc., by saying “that’s how He was in the Old Testament, but He’s different now”? Pop theology propagates this idea of God being full of wrath in the Old Testament and full of love in the New Testament, but is that what Scripture really teaches? If so, how does this square with verses proclaiming Him to be “unchanging” and “…the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) We will conduct a brief survey of Covenant Theology this Sunday and will examine both the differences and the similarities of the Old and New Covenants. In all of this, we find Christ at the absolute center and it is in Him that we find our understanding.
