"How Long, O Lord?"

Sep 26, 2021

David was hunted by King Saul, endured the rebellion of his son, Absalom, and experienced overwhelming guilt from his sin against Uriah and Bathsheba – he was well-acquainted with grief. And it was from this great pain that many of the psalms were written. Psalm 13 – an expression of David’s fear that God had abandoned him – is one of many of the “psalms of lament” that comprise roughly a third of all the psalms. If God ordained these expressions of sorrow, grief and regret and saw fit to include them in His Holy Word, what then is the message He wants us to receive?
